The inaugural Ontario Rugby League (ORL) Nines tournament will kick of what promises to be an intriguing and very competitive 2016 ORL season this coming Sunday, April 24 at Esther Shiner Stadium in Toronto. The exciting afternoon schedule not only includes the ORL Nines Tournament but will also feature the first ever Junior Development activity in Ontario with Skill Sessions and Trial Nines Games for prospective U17 players, that could see some of these youngsters represent Team Ontario against Western Canada and the Young Canada Wolverines on a ground breaking tour to Jamaica in August. In addition Toronto Touch Rugby will be showcasing the Touch version of the game by playing Exhibition Touch games.
The ORL Nines Tournament will be hotly contested by the four Ontario teams, Brantford Broncos, Burlington Tigers, Toronto Centurions and Toronto City Saints and should see lots of exciting, open, hard Rugby League being played. The first of six preliminary round games, between traditional rivals the Toronto Centurions and Toronto City Saints kicks off the tournament at 1pm. The tournament will conclude with the Consolation Final between the 3rd and 4th place teams at 4:20pm followed by the ORL Nines Tournament Final featuring the 1st and 2nd place teams at 4:40pm.
